For the Five Objects challenge in the All-Media Paint-Off, artists were asked to paint a still life that included these five objects: a feather, a key, a candle, a scarf and a pen.

Many artists responded with narrative themes, such as western, mystery, romance and fantasy. Others centered more on mood and atmosphere, leaving viewers to fill in the story as they wished. This others took a decidedly abstract approach. Each artist gave viewers something different to ponder.

In the end, though, only one painting could gain the Paint-Off prize of a $50 gift certificate for North Light books. Congratulations go to llfoxart for her winning work, Studio Still-Life.
