ELIGIBILITY
Artist’s birth date must be on or before June 1, 1949. The contest is open to all artists working in all traditional art media (please, no digital art or photography). Artists can live in the U.S. and abroad. All works must be original. “Original” means that the work must be from the hand of a single artist; pieces that originate from a workshop or a class under the direction of a teacher are not eligible. For works based on reference photographs, eligibility demands that the artist must have taken the photographs or have obtained written permission from the photographer. Compositions based on published material or other artists’ work are NOT considered original and are not eligible. No entrant can win more than one prize. Artists whose work has appeared in The Artist’s Magazine in the last five years are not eligible.  Employees or associates of F+W Media, Inc., or their immediate families may not enter. The Artist’s Magazine reserves the right to reject work deemed unsuitable for publication or that does not meet above criteria.

PREPARING YOUR ENTRY

All entries must list the title; the medium or media; and the dimensions of the piece. Entries received with missing information will be disqualified. No refunds will be issued for disqualified entries. To be notified directly of your entry's receipt, include a self-addressed, stamped postcard.

SLIDE ENTRIES: 35mm slides must be accompanied by an Official Entry Form or facsimile. Odd-sized, glass or metal slide frames will not be accepted. There is no limit to the number of slides you may enter. You may mail all your entries in one large envelope.
Please write directly on slides. They should be labeled individually and legibly and should not be taped together. Each submitted slide must include the following information:
a) On the front of the slide (the side that faces you as you hold it up to the light to be viewed), note the artwork’s title, medium/media, and dimensions, and the top direction.
b) On the back of the slide, write your name, address and phone number legibly. Incomplete entry forms and improperly marked slides will be disqualified.

DIGITAL ENTRIES: Entries can be submitted online using the online entry form. There is no limit to the number of images you may enter. You may mail all your entries in on one CD. You MUST include a cover sheet that lists the title, medium/media, and dimensions of each image. The titles of the images on the CD must match the titles on the sheet. Image files cannot exceed 2MG. The file format must be JPEG. If your work is selected for the top 10, we will contact you at a later date and ask that you provide a high-res replacement file. Incomplete entry forms and information sheets, and improperly marked CDs will be disqualified.

FEES AND PAYMENT: All entries are $10 per slide or image. A credit card number and signature, check or money order for the required jury fee (in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank) must accompany a mailed-in entry. You may send one check to cover all entries in a package. Or you may enter online using a credit card. There will be a $10 charge for returned checks or declined credit cards. Credit cards will be charged within 90 days of contest deadline. Charge will appear as “F+W Contests.”

MATERIALS: Slides and CDs will not be returned (so have a duplicate made for your own files). The Artist’s Magazine will not be responsible for the loss, damage or return of any slides or CDs submitted to the
