Loved the 4-step process to painting, Sterling is so great at explaining the process.

As a beginner this helps me with composition, where to start with color, the importance of brush strokes and the most important concept of watercolor -leaving the whites! His comments when adding the final touches the reminder "to not over pick"is now hanging up on my wall!

I am a beginner with watercolors and these videos by Sterling Edwards have really helped me to understand and get started. He is thorough in his explanations. His southern language is great!

The artist speaks very fast, making him difficult to understand at times.

Good techniques

I love your videos so I ordered your book, 'Creating luminous water colour landscapes'. It's just arrived and I am thrilled to bits with it. It's beautifully illustrated, simply laid out but very informative. I am going to really enjoy reading this and trying out some of the techniques.

This video explains and demonstrates Sterling's 4 Step Process. Clear and concise. I perfect preamble for his other videos.

I am a pastellist. In attempt to put more pazzazz into my pictures, I stumbled upon Sterling after seeing his high user ratings. I found the video amazing. He makes his 'four step process' for creating a watercolour picture simple - yet easy to grasp. As he paints he talks - so I can see visually what he is explaining as he is doing it. In between explaining how to achieve these luminous pictures in his four step process, he shares lots of little tips and tricks that he has gleaned during his years in watercolour painting. This gives people like my amateur self a huge leap forwrard in creating such beautiful pieces of work. Finally, one of the best aspects to this video....it is only about 30-40 mins, so I could digest the whole thing in one session without becoming tediously bored. Sterling - you rock the paint!

Short, concise, and spot on. I came to this video to learn watercolor underpainting techniques for pastel and left with a new appreciation for how affective watercolor can be. I was particularly impressed with how much information Sterling packed into thirty minutes, due largely because he worked as he spoke instead of lecturing in front of the camera. "Show don't tell," shouldn't only be a mantra for novelists. I've seen the video; now I've got to read the book!
