Make Fido or Fluffy the Subject of Your Next Remarkable Portrait
We’re Celebrating Animal Inspiration! Pets | Best In Show Art Competition Call for Entries
Do you have the cutest pet around – one that strangers on the sidewalk can’t help but stop and coo over? Or one with a big, rambunctious personality that is always curious and would be a treat for you to paint or draw? Now you have the incentive to share that cuteness with a much bigger audience! Enter the Best In Show | Pets Art Competition to celebrate the animals that make our day-to-day lives so special and wind up with cash prizes, publicity, and artistic acclaim, too.
Submissions for the Pets Competition: Best In Show Art Competition are being accepted now in any painting or drawing medium. Categories include Dogs, Cats and Other types of pets (such as fish, reptiles, birds, horses). Three artists with long-time expertise in the genre of pet portraiture – Dana Hawk, Yael Maimon and Bev Jozwiak – will evaluate the submissions and select our winners. We’re also pleased to share that a portion of every entry fee for competition will be donated to the Dumb Friends League, a national animal welfare organization.
Subject Matter Expertise
Many of us know what it is to come home and be greeted by that special animal in our life. We appreciate those times when we are taking a moment to ourselves and our resident fur baby seems to intuit exactly how we are feeling and shows us some much needed affection. And then there are just the antics and silly animal sensibilities of a beloved pet that have the power to make us smile all day. The Best In Show | Pets Art Competition gives all that pet love a place to go! And what’s more, you have all the experience you need to get started in this chosen genre.
When it comes to pets, almost all of us are subject matter experts. We either have a certain level of personal familiarity with pets, or we have someone in our lives who does. That means finding inspiration, finding a model, and finding a point of view – it’s all truly at hand.
And even if you aren’t personally as familiar with having a pet as another artist, inspiration is all around us! Take a walk around your neighborhood. Stop over at your local dog park. Go to the pet store and simply browse. The pet world is a big one and you’ve only to open your eyes to see all the possibilities – and prospective pets – you can turn to for your submission for the Best In Show | Pets Art Competition.
Best Paw Forward
Whether you decide to depict a beloved pet of your own, a friend’s animal companion, or a more exotic specimen, maximize the impact of the artwork you submit for the Pets Competition: Best In Show Art Competition by keeping balance in mind. On the one hand, you’ve got all the physical features of your model, whether it is a wagging tail, perked ears, a wet nose, or all of the above. On the other hand, you’ve got all the ways you can visually emphasize the character and energy of that animal in front of you.
Your approach is sure to bring you to the winner’s circle when you hit the right level of attention detail while putting an emphasis on the personality of the animal in front of you. That way the juror knows in an instant what your chosen pet’s portrait is all about – because you’ve found the way to represent all the inner quality of your model – and the ones on the outside too!
Now it’s time to put your best paw, claw or hoof forward! Submit to the Pets Competition: Best in Show Art Competition today!
